This pattern design came from a piece I designed for Lilla Rogers’ Global Talent Search.  The brief was to create a journal and the theme was Vintage Children’s Playgrounds. After brainstorming I thought of children’s carousels. I then took inspiration from the film Carousel and the beautiful and quirky scene of Gordon MacRae’s character polishing stars in Heaven. I wanted to infuse my design with this magic.

The image below is the original design I entered into the competition. I then made a pattern that subsequently was used as a notebook for my lifestyle brand Dreaming on a Star.
